João Caio Goulart Penteado has been practicing corporate law since 1966. At the time, he was working at Pinheiro Neto Advogados, where he stayed as a partner until 1986. In 1997, he founded Goulart Penteado, Iervolino & Lefosse – Advogados, which, as his previous firm, practiced in virtually all areas of law (excluding criminal and bankruptcy law), withdrawing in 2004 to keep on with his practice more personally. Goulart Penteado – Advogados presently works in very close cooperation with Machado Associados – Advogados e Consultores Jurídicos (www.machadoassociados.com.br), where he is a senior consultant for corporate and contract matters, and which provides the infrastructure and support deemed necessary to meet the interests of his clients in a full and comprehensive manner. His practice also includes arbitration. Goulart Penteado was, for 12 years, President of the Arbitration Committee (presently Arbitration and Mediation Center) of the Brazil – Canada Chamber of Commerce, of which he is one of the founders.
